The Freedom Eagles had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat James Madison 55-14 at home. The victory was just business as usual for Freedom, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Freedom to victory were Tristan Evans-Trujillo and Jeffrey Overton. Evans-Trujillo threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.2% of his passes, while Overton gained 225 total yards and four touchdowns. Evans-Trujillo is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Carleton juju Preston was another key contributor, picking up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Although James Madison took the loss, they still got scores from Cord Yates and Dominic Knicely.
Freedom has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 55.44 points. As for James Madison, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Freedom will take on Highland Springs at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Highland Springs is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. James Madison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
