After flying high against the Marion Giants on Wednesday, the Fort Wayne North Side Legends came back down to earth. Fort Wayne North Side took a 37-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westfield on Friday. While losing is never fun, Fort Wayne North Side can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Westfield is ranked 25th).
Fort Wayne North Side lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aubrey Bleeke, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Bleeke scored a full 46.4% of Fort Wayne North Side's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Woodson, who scored 11 points.
Fort Wayne North Side struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westfield racked up 11 assists.
Westfield can attribute much of their success to Aubrey Crockett, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Crockett continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Van dyke, who scored ten points.
Fort Wayne North Side's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Westfield, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
