The Hastings Tigers were the 51-50 winner over the Grand Island Islanders when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Hastings fell 50-39 to Grand Island on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hastings has scored all season.
Mukadi Mukoma continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grand Island, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mukoma has scored at least 25% of Grand Island's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan McDonald, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Hastings and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Grand Island, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hastings will be home for the holidays to greet Roncalli Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Island will be home for the holidays to greet North Platte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (North Platte is ranked 194th, while Grand Island is ranked 183rd).
