On Friday McCool Junction take on Santee at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps national rankings project a close game.
McCool Junction were fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 49-6. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.
Meanwhile, Santee couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were given a punishing 6-43 defeat at the hands of Hampton. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
McCool Junction's win lifted them to 2-0 while Santee's loss dropped them down to 0-1. In their win, McCool Junction relied heavily on senior Hunter Cole, who rushed for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns; a key strategy for Santee will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
