The Guyer Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Braswell Bengals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Guyer is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Guyer came up short against Rock Hill and fell 52-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Guyer came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Rock Hill is ranked 188th).
Even though Braswell has not done well against McKinney recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Braswell managed a 57-51 victory over McKinney. The victory was some much needed relief for Braswell as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Guyer's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Braswell, their win bumped their record up to 23-6.
Guyer was able to grind out a solid win over Braswell when the teams last played on January 2nd, winning 62-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Guyer since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
