Basketball Recap: St. Andrew's Falls Despite Big Games from Scarlett Holmes and Coco Carnahan

St. Andrew lost against Hilton Head Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The St. Andrew's Lions came up short against the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins, falling 52-32. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 395th in Georgia, while the Dolphins are ranked 105th in South Carolina).

Coco Carnahan and Scarlett Holmes certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Carnahan posted seven points and ten rebounds, while Holmes earned four points. That's the most boards Carnahan has posted since back in January of 2024.

Courtney Campbell was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 20 en route to 26 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Hilton Head Prep. Campbell's afternoon made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sophie Moe was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

St. Andrew's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hilton Head Prep, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

St. Andrew's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-39 loss against Westminster Schools of Augusta on the 28th. Hilton Head Prep has also already played their next game, a 58-29 win against Charleston Collegiate on the 27th.
