Union has gone a perfect 8-0 against Pine View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Union Cougars duke it out with Pine View Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Union's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Pine View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Union is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Juan Diego Catholic, who was ranked 17th at the time (Union was ranked sixth). Union fell 7-3 to Juan Diego Catholic on Saturday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Haylee Moynier spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Payzlei Parrish was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Kesler, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Pine View was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 25-1 to Desert Hills.
Pine View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nely Brinagh, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
The defeat snapped Union's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-1 record. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pine View, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Pine View's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Union has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pine View, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 strikeouts. Will Union keep running through batters, or will Pine View buck the trend?
Union skirted past Pine View 16-15 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Union repeat their success, or does Pine View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
