The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors will challenge the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Edmonds-Woodway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Edmonds-Woodway gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Meadowdale as Edmonds-Woodway made off with a 13-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won six in a row.
Finn Crawford spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, Edmonds-Woodway got a massive performance out of Erik Alsdorf, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Alsdorf a new career-high in RBI (two). Toshi Gilginas was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Edmonds-Woodway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadowdale only posted a batting average of .286.
Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Lynnwood 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Layton Rongholt tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mountlake Terrace's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Meek, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Edmonds-Woodway's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mountlake Terrace, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Mountlake Terrace's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Edmonds-Woodway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Mountlake Terrace, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Edmonds-Woodway's hitters?
Edmonds-Woodway suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Mountlake Terrace when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Edmonds-Woodway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
