The Holtville Vikings will square off against the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Holtville's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Brawley has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Holtville gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They snuck past Central with a 32-27 victory. Holtville's win was all the more impressive since the Spartans were averaging only 14.75 points allowed on the season.

Enrique Armas had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 340 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last 12 times he's played.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holtville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 346 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Brawley was able to grind out a solid victory over University City last Friday, taking the game 14-7.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Adrian Zamora and Aiden Arriquive. Zamora rushed for 100 yards and one TD while Arriquive rushed for 51 yards and one score.
One reason for the win was Brawley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Joaquin Lofton and Ryan Rebollar, who racked up six sacks between them.
Holtville's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Brawley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Holtville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 408.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Brawley, though, as they've been averaging only 183.4 total yards. Will Holtville be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Wildcats flip the script?
Holtville and Brawley were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in March of 2021, but Holtville suffered an agonizing 23-22 defeat. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
