In other batting news, Andrew Schemenaur was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Jay County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Leighton Brown, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Jay County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Shenandoah's offense. They fell 4-0 to Wapahani on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which Shenandoah was not able to get on the board.
Shenandoah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Jay County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jay County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jay County beat Shenandoah 12-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
