Hillcrest Christian can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. Everything went their way against Franklin Academy as Hillcrest Christian made off with a 59-35 win. Given Hillcrest Christian's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Mississippi, while Franklin Academy is ranked 256th in Louisiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Severe McNeary continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Battle, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Prairie View Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They took down Franklin Academy 79-65. The win was a breath of fresh air for Prairie View Academy as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Prairie View Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abram Anthony out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Anthony is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Tullos, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Hillcrest Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.33 points. As for Prairie View Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Friday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hillcrest Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Prairie View Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 31.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
