Lexington extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-10. They lost 12-6 to the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-0 defeat on Tuesday.
Zion Box was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's side, Rafer Jones was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Jones a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is 4-2 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Landon Henry was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angus Braswell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Lexington will be playing at home against Tanner at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against East Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
