Reeltown and Elmore County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rebels will face off against the Panthers at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Reeltown is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Saint James on Friday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 13-1. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Elmore County faced off against Handley on Friday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-2 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.
Bailey Gardner looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Elmore County let Addy Peaden and Brooklynn Berry run wild. Peaden went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI, while Berry went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Berry has posted since back in March. Addison Hicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Elmore County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory snapped Elmore County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-14 record. As for Reeltown, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Reeltown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .433. However, it's not like Elmore County struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Reeltown couldn't quite get it done against Elmore County in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 as they fell 6-2. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
