The Oakland Wildcats won the last time they faced the Fremont Tigers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Oakland strolled past Fremont with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. Given Oakland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Fremont is ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oakland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rohm Neal out in front who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Anthony Lacy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Oakland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Oakland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on McClymonds at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Fremont and El Cerrito will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. El Cerrito is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
