The Quincy Notre Dame Raiders will take on the Camp Point Central Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Camp Point Central will be up against a hot Quincy Notre Dame squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Raiders put the hurt on Clark County with a sharp 17-11 win on Tuesday. The team relied heavily on Abram Wiewel, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Logan Sutton, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Quincy Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Camp Point Central and Hamilton/Warsaw meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Titans. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won seven in a row.
Collin Likes tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Luke Huston was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Howe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Quincy Notre Dame's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Camp Point Central, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-13.
