2A Region 1 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Southern Choctaw moved up to 141 from 169 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Region 1. The Indians were able to make move up by besting Millry 48-7.
Sweet Water extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Choctaw County, 34-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Bulldogs.
Southern Choctaw's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny Napier threw for 23 yards and LaBrandon Young had 23 yards receiving. On the ground Quentin Adams chipped in 130 yards.
Southern Choctaw's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Napier has thrown for 632 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Young has 14 catches for 303 yards. Adams leads the league in rushing with 1222 yards.
A big matchup in 2A Region 1 this week will be when Mobile Christian takes on Sweet Water. The Leopards are in third place, while Stacy Luker's team is in second place.
Jeremy Noland's team took down the Wildcats 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Adams in the win.
