St. Joseph's Prep got a good showing from Cole Kuhn, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Kuhn also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Hawks are 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
At the plate, John Sitler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Another player making a difference was Robby Grasso, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bishop Eustace Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Moorestown.
Bishop Eustace Prep also got a great performance from Eamon McDermott as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. McDermott has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Gabe Yates was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Bishop Eustace Prep pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph's Prep, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Joseph's Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bishop Eustace Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
