Somerset College Prep Academy hasn't had much luck against Westwood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans will head out to take on the Westwood Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-48, which was the final score in Somerset College Prep Academy's tilt against Tradition Prep on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the Pirates are ranked 233rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lenz Constant, who posted five points. Micheal Hill also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Westwood was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 38-37 to Okeechobee.
Somerset College Prep Academy will have to keep a close watch on Jordan Crutchfield and Keith Seme, a pair of players who had a big impact on Westwood's prior game. Crutchfield dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, while Seme put up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Crutchfield is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 27 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Marquan Burgess, who earned two points in addition to five assists, five rebounds, and four steals.
Westwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Somerset College Prep Academy lost to Westwood on the road by a decisive 58-39 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Crutchfield, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 boards. Now that Somerset College Prep Academy knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
