3A Narrows recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mt. Tahoma, who took down 231st ranked Mt. Tahoma, 18-14.
Timberline moved up to 38 from 87 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Narrows. A 48-20 win over Wilson helped the Blazers improve their standing.
Lincoln's dynamic duo of J'Maka Love and Kashawn Johnson proved tough for North Thurston to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Love threw for 117 yards and one touchdown and Johnson had 67 yards receiving. Joshua Eckwood helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.
Jamarae Finnie made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Abes lost to the Rams. The 6-foot-4 defensive lineman forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Mo Manning was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 63 yards on 18 carries as North Thurston fell to North Thurston. Brandon Belisario also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Jon Kitna's team's Love and Eckwood have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Love has thrown for 683 yards this season, while Eckwood, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 20 catches for 383 yards. Belisario from Rocky Patchin's team leads the league in rushing with 341 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Narrows this week will be when Shelton takes on Foss. The High Climbers are currently in first, while the Falcons are in sixth.
Shelton was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Yelm 38-14. Matt Hinkle's team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 70 last week.
