Basketball Recap: Victory Baptist Academy Wins High-Profile Contest Against New Life Christian Academy

On Monday, Victory Baptist Academy faced New Life Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Victory Baptist Academy Saints breezed by the New Life Christian Academy Lions to the tune of 73-43. With the Saints ahead 43-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Victory Baptist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Cormican, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and five steals. Cormican is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Noah Childers was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why New Life Christian Academy lost, don't look at Jake Hamilton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. That was a full 48.8% of New Life Christian Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marc Miller, who had eight points.

Victory Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for New Life Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
