Mathis had a senior duo take command as Ashton Quesada scored 20 points along with two steals and Arik Cuellar dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Cuellar hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games.
George West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Bernal, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Bernal is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Tristen Blevins was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mathis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season. As for George West, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-16.
Mathis will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aransas Pass is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for George West, they will be playing at home against the Owls at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Odem is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
