Fort Bragg extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-13. They came up short against the Clear Lake Cardinals, falling 19-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-9 on April 3rd.
Vianney Maravilla was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Hazel McNulty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Clear Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Clear Lake, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
On Clear Lake's side, Atiana Patino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Patino was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Amelie Davis was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abbi Malley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Bragg will welcome Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clear Lake, they will host Cloverdale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 13.1 runs per game this season.
