The Logansport Berries will head out on the road to face off against the West Lafayette Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Logansport is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Logansport came out on top against Benton Central on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Berries were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Bison. The result was nothing new for the Berries, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Logansport got a great performance from Maddy Baumgardner as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Baumgardner has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Natalee Packard was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Gracie Risley was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.
Logansport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted a batting average of .111.
Tri-County hit West Lafayette with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell 5-1 to the Cavaliers. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Red Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.
Molly Mansfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, West Lafayette saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Fowler, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Logansport pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Lafayette, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Logansport hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Logansport came out on top in a nail-biter against West Lafayette in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Berries since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
