Wendover is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Rich is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wendover Wildcats will take on the Rich Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Wendover didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Manila, but they still walked away with a 44-38 win.
Wendover found their leader in underclassman Millie Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hicks has scored at least a third of Wendover's points. Gaby Delgadillo was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Rich earned a 46-39 victory over Tabiona on Saturday.
Hannah Scott was a one-man wrecking crew for Rich as she scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Scott scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Violett Taylor, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Wendover is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Rich, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wendover have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rich struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wendover ended up a good deal behind Rich in their previous meeting back in January, losing 40-24. Will Wendover have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
