Washington County extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 3 this week by beating Swainsboro, 49-9. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Washington County took down the Tigers 49-9 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Swainsboro's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Deantae Johnson has thrown for 213 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Startavious Harmon has seven catches for 111 yards. Johnson also leads the league in rushing with 587 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Golden Hawks and Thomson. Washington County comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks 14th.
Swainsboro made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,120 from 4,663. The improvement came about via a 49-9 victory over the Tigers last week.
