After flying high against the Ashland Blue Devils last Friday, The Myrtle Hawks came back down to earth. Myrtle took a 35-20 bruising from Falkner on Friday. Myrtle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Falkner apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.
Falkner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Wooley out in front who threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Wooley is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Kane Floyd was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Myrtle's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Falkner, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Myrtle will head out on the road to face off against Byers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Byers is on a three-game streak of home losses, Myrtle a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Falkner will take on Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
