The Fillmore Central Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Sandy Creek by a score of 42-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Fillmore Central of the 45-33 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Leading Sandy Creek to victory were Ryleigh Skalka and Emma Fisher. Skalka scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Fisher scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Fillmore Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Sandy Creek, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-15.
Fillmore Central will take on Sutton on Friday. Sutton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fillmore Central in Nebraska (Sutton is ranked 96th, while Fillmore Central is ranked 233rd). As for Sandy Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Superior on Thursday. Superior is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, meaning Sandy Creek will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
