The Duanesburg Eagles will face off against the Mekeel Christian Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Duanesburg has three straight victories, Mekeel Christian Academy has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Duanesburg barely beat Mayfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers an 11-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ayden Fall, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Mienaltowski, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Duanesburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayfield only posted an OBP of .350.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mekeel Christian Academy's offense. They came up short against Galway on Thursday, falling 13-0.
Mekeel Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Duanesburg, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Duanesburg's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mekeel Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Duanesburg continue to outrun the ball?
Duanesburg beat Mekeel Christian Academy 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
