The Perquimans Pirates pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 77-55 defeat at the hands of North Pitt.
Perquimans' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shavoris Lewis Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Jalyn Nelson who scored 14 points. Zamir Foreman was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Pitt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keymauri Brooks, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that Brooks posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Newkirk, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Perquimans has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for North Pitt, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-18.
Perquimans didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-53 loss vs. Tarboro on the 9th. North Pitt has also already played their next match, a 79-75 loss against Washington on the 9th.
