Madison (San Diego, Calif.) trailed
Marin Catholic (Kentfield, Calif.) by 21 points at one time, but managed to come all the way back and secure a 38-35 victory on Saturday.
The Wildcats pulled ahead on a
Jared Goff touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-17. The Warhawks scored the winning points with a
Kareem Coles touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Madison still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped MHS pull out the victory.
Goff played well for Marin Catholic. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
The San Diego school's most effective player was Coles. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown, ran for three touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
MC came in surrendering 13.2 points per game this season. The Kentfield school struggled against the Warhawks' offense, which entered the game scoring 35.9 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Marin Catholic, which notched a 23-7 victory over Sutter in its previous outing.
