It was a good run, but the Yazoo County Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. Their tough 56-36 defeat to Canton might stick with them for a while. Yazoo County has struggled against Canton recently, as their contest on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Shamira Morton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Canton, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 20 rebounds. The matchup was Morton's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Na'Miya Davis, who scored six points along with five assists.
Yazoo County's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Canton, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
Yazoo County will head out on the road to face off against Winona at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Canton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison Central at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Madison Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
