5A Region I District 5 recap October 8, 2013
Hebron was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after a bye. The Hawks came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Leading 5A Region I District 5 in both passing and receiving yards, Marcus's Taylor Gibbs and Kaden Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. Gibbs has thrown for 559 yards this season, while Smith has 20 catches for 311 yards. Hebron's Treyvon Hughes leads the league in rushing yards with 454.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Coppell and Brian Brazil's team. The Cowboys enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while the Hawks ranks 25th.
Two stand out recruits will be in the spotlight when Coppell and Hebron meet this week. Joe Mcbride's team features high profile defensive lineman Solomon Thomas while the Hawks has Jamal Adams, a sought after senior.
The Marauders led the league in points allowed with 17.
