Folsom spent the last decade playing for a section title in all but one year, winning seven. The Bulldogs have finished no worse than third in the final section rankings, including eight No. 1 finishes. During that span the Bulldogs also developed several Division I college players, including Jake Browning and Jonah Williams, both of whom are in the NFL.
Manteca takes the second spot after winning six section titles in the past decade, including the past three. The Buffaloes add five top 10 finishes in the section.
Another Valley Oak League team,
Central Catholic (Modesto), finished No. 3 after winning section championships in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2021.
Section titles were not the only criteria used when determining the decade's top teams. We also took into account where each team finished in the MaxPreps Sac-Joaquin Section Top 25 rankings. This rewarded teams for playing tough schedules along the way.
Our methodology includes: Points awarded for:
• Top 25 finishes in the MaxPreps section computer rankings (25 points awarded to the No. 1 team, 24 for No. 2 and so on).
• Section championships (20 points).
• Section championship game appearances (10 points).
