The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons are ranked highly in their home state, and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. John's Cadets. Our Lady of Good Counsel fell 57-45 to St. John's. Our Lady of Good Counsel has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Our Lady of Good Counsel lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Talayah Walker, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Walker has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caliyah Devillasee, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Kyndal Walker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. John's, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Carolae Barton, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Our Lady of Good Counsel's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for St. John's, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Our Lady of Good Counsel will be playing at home against Bishop O'Connell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of Good Counsel is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for St. John's, they will head out on the road to challenge Paul VI at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. St. John's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Paul VI likes a good challenge.
