Stevens has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Holmes Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Stevens suffered their biggest defeat since November 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-36 loss at the hands of Sotomayor. While losing is never fun, Stevens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while Sotomayor is ranked 100th).
Meanwhile, Holmes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Warren. Holmes has struggled against Warren recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Holmes saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zyonna Walraven, who scored eight points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Darlene Doboyou was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
Stevens has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-17.
Stevens lost to Holmes on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holmes' Crystal Aragon, who almost dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Now that Stevens knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
