In what's become a running theme this season, the Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They really took it to Quince Orchard for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-35 victory at home. 71 seems to be a good number for Seneca Valley as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Seneca Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mina Hashemzadeh, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Hashemzadeh continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Watson, who scored eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Seneca Valley used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Quince Orchard. And. Teagan Phillips made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with two steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Quince Orchard lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evelyn Steele, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Steele has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Richardson, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Seneca Valley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Quince Orchard, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Seneca Valley will head out on the road to face off against Gaithersburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seneca Valley has three straight victories, Gaithersburg has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Quince Orchard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clarksburg at 5:30 p.m. Clarksburg will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Quince Orchard surely won't give up without a fight.
