The Cypress Centurions will take on the El Modena Vanguards at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Cypress was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past La Habra 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won three in a row.
Chach Stamper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tia Hernandez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but El Modena ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past La Habra 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
El Modena also got a great performance from Ashley Driskill as she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Sofia Ramos was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Calderon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
El Modena hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Habra struck out seven times.
El Modena now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Cypress, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Cypress hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like El Modena struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
