The Oak Park Knights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-23 loss at the hands of Ferndale. While losing is never fun, Oak Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while Ferndale is ranked 121st).
Oak Park got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Madison Johnson-Williams and
Taylor Adamson, who each put up eight points.
TaNia Livingston took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Ferndale found their leader in underclassman Aaliyah Frost, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists. Frost is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Iyanna Davis was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Oak Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Ferndale, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Park will take on South Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Lake will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Oak Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ferndale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ferndale has three straight wins, University has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
