Center Grove is 8-0 against Columbus North since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Center Grove Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Columbus North Bull Dogs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Center Grove's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight games.
Last Friday, Center Grove faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Center Grove blew past Franklin Central 40-14. The result was nothing new for Center Grove, who have now won four matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Cherry led the charge by throwing for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Cherry hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Noah Coy did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Columbus North over Jeffersonville in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Columbus North blew Jeffersonville out of the water with a 58-0 final score. Columbus North pushed the score to 48-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Jeffersonville had no chance of recovering from.
Asher Ratliff looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 136 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes. Gino Prescott was another key contributor, gaining 115 total yards and a touchdown.
Center Grove's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.9 points per game. As for Columbus North, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
