Vasquez is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Polytechnic. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 10, 2024.
Sadie Mendoza made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Nasrallah, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Faith Baptist made easy work of Desert Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 15-5 victory. The Contenders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.
Keira Correos made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Correos was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Rayanna Larson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Coronel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vasquez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Faith Baptist struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Vasquez came out on top in a nail-biter against Faith Baptist when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Contenders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
