Angel Chavarria made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Chavarria was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kevin Delcid looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Dunbar got a massive performance out of Zion Foster, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Foster has launched this season. Jonathan Parks was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.
Dunbar's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Academy for College and Career Exploration, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Academy for College and Career Exploration has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game.
