Handley had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-13 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the Liberty Eagles 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Judges: when they faced off against the Eagles back in April, they had to take a 8-6 loss.
Will Braun-Duin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan VanNatter, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
On Liberty's side, Parker Harris was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Harris has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Corbin Shepard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Christopher Laws, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
