The Christchurch School Seahorses will head out to square off against the Hampton Roads Academy Navigators at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Christchurch School's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five games, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
The Covenant hit Christchurch School with a five-run sixth inning last Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Seahorses came up short against the Eagles, falling 9-1.
Trey Fitchett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Hampton Roads Academy hadn't done well against Norfolk Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Navigators walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Ambassadors. The Navigators haven't had any issues with the Ambassadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Paul Bennett-Northam looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hampton Roads Academy let Graham Hutchens and George Kokolis run wild. Hutchens went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Kokolis went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Hampton Roads Academy is undefeated when Hutchens posts three or more hits, but 3-9 otherwise. Sam Overman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Hampton Roads Academy's record is now 6-9. As for Christchurch School, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Christchurch School has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hampton Roads Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Christchurch School suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Hampton Roads Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Seahorses avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
