The Pasco Pirates will face off against the Central Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pasco is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Pasco is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Sunlake on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to the Seahawks. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Seahawks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Pasco saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexandra Rivera, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Central brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They put the hurt on Weeki Wachee with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaida Childs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Central got a massive performance out of Christina Barreto, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Those stolen bases were Barreto's first of the season. Natalie Atkinson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Central's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Pasco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pasco has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Pasco's sizable advantage in that area, the Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pasco came out on top in a nail-biter against Central when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
