The Bear River Bears will square off against the Syracuse Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bear River has four straight wins, Syracuse has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bear River's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Richfield with a sharp 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bears yet this season.
Tucker Helm looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Bear River got a massive performance out of Dallen Rice, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Rice a new career-high. Ethan Higgs was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Bear River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Syracuse scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 9-2 to Jordan.
Syracuse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Carver, who went 1-for-2 with one run. That hit was Carver's first of the season.
Bear River's record now sits at 4-0. As for Syracuse, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Syracuse's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bear River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Syracuse, though, as they've only averaged .123. Will they be able to contain Bear River's hitters?
Bear River was able to grind out a solid win over Syracuse in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, winning 3-0. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
