Oakmont is 7-1 against Bear River since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Oakmont sitting on three straight victories and Bear River on four.
Oakmont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Colfax on Tuesday. The Vikings blew past the Falcons 11-1. Considering the Vikings have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makayla Matson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Oakmont got a massive performance out of Shelby Huston, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Huston has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Azra Ulmer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Oakmont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bear River never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top against Marysville by a score of 3-0.
Averie Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run.
Bear River's record is now 13-8. As for Oakmont, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oakmont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Bear River struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oakmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Bear River when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
