The Kingstree Blazers will head out on the road to face off against the Lake City Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingstree will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Kingstree really took it to Hemingway for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-41 victory at home.
It was another big night for Micheal Kelly, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashton Woods, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Lake City's 19-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 84-53 defeat at the hands of Atlantic Collegiate Academy on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lake City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Atlantic Collegiate Academy is ranked third).
Lake City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryson Rose, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals, and Blayne Edwards who scored 13 points. The match was Rose's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jayden Graham was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Kingstree's victory bumped their season record to 4-1 while Hemingway's loss dropped theirs to 0-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kingstree have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lake City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
Kingstree might still be hurting after the 75-50 defeat they got from Lake City in their previous meeting back in January. Can Kingstree avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
