Basketball Recap: Kaitlyn Anderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Seneca

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marquette, Henry-Senachwine was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 51-42 victory over the Seneca Fighting Irish. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mallards' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 163rd).

Henry-Senachwine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaitlyn Anderson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Anderson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynna Anderson, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Henry-Senachwine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Henry-Senachwine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Seneca, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Henry-Senachwine will take on Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Henry-Senachwine is facing Midland at the right time seeing as Midland is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Seneca, they will challenge Marquette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
