After both having extra time off, the El Cajon Valley Braves and the Granite Hills Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with El Cajon Valley sitting on eight straight wins and Granite Hills on nine.
Two weeks ago, El Cajon Valley earned a 3-1 victory over Clairemont.
El Cajon Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills was able to grind out a solid win over Bonita Vista last Thursday, taking the game 3-1.
Granite Hills walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18.
Granite Hills' win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-8. As for El Cajon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 25-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's game: El Cajon Valley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Granite Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went El Cajon Valley's way against Granite Hills in their previous matchup back in March, as El Cajon Valley made off with a 3-0 win.
