Doherty Memorial has gone 7-1 against Notre Dame Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hilanders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Rebels at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Doherty Memorial is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Nipmuc Regional. The Hilanders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Warriors on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Hilanders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Riley Cormier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Cormier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah DeFusco, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy got the win against Hudson on Monday by a conclusive 14-7.
Mila Aldrin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Notre Dame Academy got a massive performance out of Norah Wojnarowicz, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Abby Spaulding, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Notre Dame Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Doherty Memorial came out on top in a nail-biter against Notre Dame Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Hilanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
